Jason Simontacchi on Both 2014 Peoria Clubs

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league pitching coach discusses organizational standouts from the 2014 Midwest League season and the Arizona Fall League.

Jason Simontacchi has enjoyed the rare honor of serving as pitching coach for two different Peoria teams in the same season – the Peoria (Ill.) Chiefs of the Midwest League through the spring and summer, followed by the Peoria (Ari.) Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League in October and November.

In his two years directing the pitching staffs of the St. Louis Cardinals’ Class-A club, the former major league right-hander had either directly worked with or closely observed most of the organization’s current eight AFL assignees.

In the following exclusive interview, Simontacchi discusses both of his 2014 Peoria clubs. That includes a number of his Midwest League pitching standouts from the regular season as well as all eight Cardinals system players on the Javelinas.
