Cardinals Reliever Walden to Miss 6-10 Weeks

A strained shoulder muscle has sidelined St. Louis Cardinals reliever Jordan Walden for an extended period.

St. Louis Cardinals setup man Jordan Walden will be shut down for six to 10 weeks for a strained muscle in his right shoulder.

The 27-year-old was placed on the 15-day disabled list last week and the decision was made Wednesday after a second opinion.

The Cardinals say the injury will not require surgery.

Walden was acquired from the Atlanta Braves in November along with outfielder Jason Heyward and has a 0.87 ERA in 12 games.
