The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Sam Tuivailala from Triple-A Memphis.

After allowing single runs in his first two appearances, he currently has a nine-game scoreless streak (9.0 innings) with the Cardinals. His last appearance with St. Louis came on Aug. 29 at San Francisco, 1.0 scoreless inning. At Memphis, Tuivailala was 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA and 17 saves in 43 games, 45.0 innings pitched. Brian Walton’s take

The interesting news is not that Tuivailala is back, but that he is the only player promoted from among a group of 40-man roster players at Memphis as its season closed that includes Marco Gonzales, Nick Greenwood, Ed Easley, Xavier Scruggs and Dean Anna. The first two were up briefly in September, but returned. Previously promoted and still with St. Louis are Tyler Lyons, Miguel Socolovich, Mitch Harris and Cody Stanley.
