Manager Marmol on 2015 Palm Beach Cardinals

Oliver Marmol, skipper of the St. Louis Cardinals’ high-A farm club, looks back at the 2015 season.

Having led his first three clubs as a manager in the St. Louis Cardinals system to the post-season, including the New York-Penn League title with his State College club in 2014, Oliver Marmol was challenged to step up and lead Class A-Advanced Palm Beach this season.

Marmol’s new club kept his playoff streak alive in 2015. For the first time since 2008, the Cardinals reached the Florida State League playoffs, winners of the second-half division title before bowing out in the first round.

The 75-63 Beach Birds were paced by their pitching, featuring a staff that allowed just 29 home runs all season long and posted a 2.65 team ERA. Though there were some individual hitting standouts, the offense as a whole struggled, however.

In the following exclusive interview, Marmol looks back on Palm Beach’s 2015 season as well as some of the team’s notable performers, managing in the FSL, dealing with players back from Double-A and more.
