Results from Arizona Fall League game played Wednesday, October 21st.

Surprise 10 vs. Scottsdale 0

Aledmys Diaz led the Saguaros’ 14-hit attack as Surprise (5-2) pounded Scottsdale, 10-0.

Diaz went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run, scoring two and knocking in three. The shortstop got his team on the board in the third, doubling to left to open the frame and scoring on Charlie Tilson’s one-out single.

Diaz came to the plate the next inning with two on and one out then lined a Taylor Rogers’ pitch over the wall in left, upping the score to 4-0. The Saguaros’ seven hole batter grounded out to first for the fifth’s final out before stroking a two-out double to left in the seventh.

Tilson, the only other Cardinals farmhand to see action, singled once in three at bats, walking once and swiping his first base. The left fielder lined out to second to finish the fourth, worked a free pass with one gone in the sixth and was caught looking with runners at the corners to end the seventh.

Rogers, a Twins prospect, was charged with his first loss in two decisions. The southpaw permitted four runs on five hits and three base-on-balls through four. Right-hander Brooks Pounders, out of the Kansas City organization, was impressive in his four-inning stint, fanning seven while allowing just two hits in picking up his first win.

Thursday’s game: at Scottsdale (3-3), 12:35 MST, Alex Reyes (0-0, 0.00)
