Surprise (7-3) translated 17 hits and 10 walks into an 18-3 pounding of division rival Glendale on Saturday. The win leaves the Saguaros and Desert Dogs tied atop the West Division, two games ahead of Peoria.

All nine starters garnered at least one hit and eight of nine scored at least one run, paced by Charlie Tilson and Nate Orf (MIL), Surprise’s one and two batters. The third baseman crossed home four times and knocked in another four. Shortstop Aledmys Diaz singled once in four at bats with a base-on-balls, touching home twice out of the eight hole.

The Yankees’ Ian Clarkin earned his first win in his first decision despite giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks in four plus. Robby Rowland, the only St. Louis prospect to take the mound, tossed a scoreless eighth while yielding a hit and fanning one. Yacksel Rios (PHI) took the loss.
