Results from Arizona Fall League game played Thursday, October 29th.
The Saguaros (9-5) dropped the second straight contest to the Solar Sox (4-10), holders of the worst record in the Arizona Fall League, this time by a 5-3 score.
Texas’ Sam Wolff was charged with his first loss in two decisions, surrendering three tallies in the first inning, all products of two long balls. The right-hander needed 69 pitches for 2 2/3 frames, giving up three hits in all while issuing two free passes. Angels’ righty Ryan Etsell, Mesa’s starter, was credited with his first win against two losses, allowing a solo bomb through three. No Cardinals’ pitcher took the mound.
All three of Surprise’s runs were generated by home runs as well. Left fielder Bubba Starling (KC) got his team on the board in the second, closing the gap to 3-1. After Mesa tacked on two more scores against the Saguaros’ bullpen, Patrick Wisdom went yard in the eighth with a runner aboard. It was the third baseman’s only hit in four at bats. Aledmys Diaz, who played second and hit ninth, was hitless in three at bats, working a free pass.
Friday’s game: at Salt River (7-6), 12:35 MST, Ian Clarkin (1-0, 4.50)
