Earlier this month, Peoria Chiefs pitcher Austin Gomber spoke with me from St. Louis Cardinals instructional league camp in Jupiter, Florida. The 21-year-old offers highlights from his highly-successful 2015, during which he was a Midwest League All-Star at mid- and post-season and helped pitch his club into the playoffs.
Gomber led the Cardinals system with his 15 wins and was second in strikeouts behind Alex Reyes with 140. Both were tops in the Class-A MWL. He was also first in the organization with a WHIP of 0.97 and an opposing batting average of just .196.
