Results from Arizona Fall League game played Tuesday, November 10th.

Surprise 10 vs. Mesa 3

A balanced attack by the Saguaros resulted in a 10-3 triumph over the Solar Sox. The victory is the fifth straight for Surprise (14-8-1), who lead the West by 3 1/2 games over Glendale.

Seven of nine starters accumulated at least one of 12 team hits, five of them garnering two apiece. One of the five was Aledmys Diaz, who doubled twice in five at bats out of the six spot. The 25-year-old opened the second by grounding out to second but lined a two-out double to left the next frame. Another double to left in the fifth placed runners at second and third with none out, Diaz subsequently scored on a sac fly. A line out to center finished the sixth, leaving a man on second. Diaz finished his day by striking out swinging for the second out in the eighth. Defensively he manned the hot corner.

The Yankees’ Ian Clarkin threw four frames, yielding four hits and three walks that generated two runs, picking up his second win against one loss. Four other Surprise hurlers shared pitching duties the balance of the game, giving up a run on four hits. None of them were St. Louis farmhands. Reliever Buddy Borden (TB) was charged with both his second blown save and second loss after serving up a three-run long ball that flipped a 2-1 Mesa lead to a 4-2 deficit.

Wednesday’s game: at Mesa (5-18), 12:35 pm MST, Adrian Houser (2-1, 2.37)
