Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 11/11/15

Robby Rowland and Aledmys Diaz led the way as five Cardinals played in Surprise’s Wednesday loss.

Results from Arizona Fall League game played Wednesday, November 11th.

Surprise 5 at Mesa 7

The Surprise Saguaros (14-9-1) dropped a 7-5 decision at Mesa (6-18), snapping a five-game winning streak.

Adrian Houser (MIL) absorbed his second loss in four decisions, permitting three tallies on seven hits and a free pass through three. Southpaw Rob Zastryzny (CHC) was credited with his second win against one loss, holding the Saguaros to a two-run bomb, one of three hits and a walk allowed over four.

Robby Rowland, the only one of four Surprise hurlers not to be scored upon, compiled his most effective outing of the AFL campaign to date. The California native retired all five faced, notching two K’s and freezing an inherited runner in scoring position with less than two outs.

Aledmys Diaz continued his recent hot streak, going 2-for-4 with a solo bomb that was part of his two runs scored and two driven in. The second baseman fanned twice, the final one looking at strike three to end the game. Diaz participated in two double plays.

Third baseman Patrick Wisdom garnered one of eight team hits, singling once in four at bats with an RBI. Catcher Michael Ohlman also went 1-for-4, fanning once. Center fielder Charlie Tilson was hitless in four at bats in the lead-off slot, striking out once.

Thursday’s game: vs. Scottsdale (15-7), 12:35 pm MST, Josh Hader (0-0, 0.90)
