Results from Arizona Fall League game played Monday, November 16th.
The Surprise Saguaros (17-10) came out of the gates Monday with three runs in the first, but the home Scottsdale picked away the lead with single runs in the third, fourth and sixth to tie it back up. A four-run top of the seventh enabled the Saguaros to again pull ahead, this time for the win.
In the process, the club clinched the West Division with three games remaining. Surprise will welcome the East Division champ in the one-game finals, to be televised by MLB Network Saturday afternoon.
Playing second base and batting second, Aledmys Diaz struck out twice in four at-bats, but also walked, singled and score a run. Third baseman Patrick Wisdom batted in his usual sixth spot. He singled, doubled, stole third base, plated four and struck out once.
Wisdom picked up his initial RBI on a single to close the first and his clutch three-run double in the seventh finished out the day’s scoring. Diaz was among the runners coming home on the latter play.
No Cardinals took the mound on Monday. Starter Adrian Houser (MIL) yielded two runs before being pulled with two outs in the fourth. Reliever Chaz Hebert (NYY) took a blown save when he yielded the tying run in the sixth. Jacob Barnes (MIL, win) and Domingo Acevedo (NYY) slammed with the door with two hitless frames each, including eight strikeouts, four each.
Tuesday’s game: at Glendale (11-14), 12:35 pm MST, TBA.
