Tuesday news of St. Louis Cardinals prospects competing for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League

Charlie Tilson scored Surprise’s lone run after doubling to lead off the game Tuesday.

Results from Arizona Fall League game played Tuesday, November 17th.

Glendale 4, Surprise 1

Having clinched the West Division title on Monday, the Surprise Saguaros (17-11) let down on Tuesday, held to just three hits in a 4-1 loss at Glendale (12-14).

The Saguaros struck quickly Tuesday two hits in the top of the first, a double by leadoff man Charlie Tilson (.216) and an RBI single by Jurickson Profar (TEX), to take the early lead.

Unfortunately, the Sags could muster just one additional hit over the final eight innings. They yielded the lead in the third and fell behind for good in the fourth.

Moved up to the fifth spot in the Surprise batting order after his four-RBI performance on Monday, third baseman Patrick Wisdom went 0-for-4 with a strikeout, lowering his AFL batting average to .238. No other St. Louis Cardinals appeared in the contest.

Saguaros starter Ian Clarkin (NYY) took the loss after allowing three runs in 4 1/3 innings. He and three other Surprise hurlers yielded a total of 18 Glendale baserunners, on 16 hits and two walks. Desert Dogs reliever Cody Dickson (PIT) was assigned the win and Edubray Ramos (PHI) picked up his second save.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Glendale (12-14), 12:35 p.m. MST, LHP Josh Hader (MIL) (1-0, 0.64 ERA).
