At Double-A Springfield, the St. Louis Cardinals received a solid 2015 season from outfielder Charlie Tilson. The organization recently rewarded their 2011 second-round draft pick with a spot on the 40-man roster.
The Cardinal Nation’s Springfield Player of the Year in 2015 had been recognized by the Texas League as both a mid-season and post-season All-Star.
pacing the circuit as well as the entire Cardinals organization in hits (159). He collected the most stolen bases (46) in the Double-A circuit, second among all Cardinals, and scored the third-most runs (85) in the TL, also tops in St. Louis’ system.
After such a busy season, it seemed a good compromise for Tilson to be a taxi squad player in the Arizona Fall League, an assignment he missed in 2014 due to injury. Though he was initially eligible to play on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, injuries to others eventually increased his opportunity to compete in the desert.
From the AFL, Tilson recapped his strong 2015 and looked ahead a bit.
