Stats are through December 10th.
Dominican (Winter) League
Season runs from October 15th through December 21st
Aguilas Cibaenas –
Robelys Reyes (Palm Beach): The shortstop with the strong arm but weak bat was selected in Thursday’s Rule 5 Draft so drops off the notebook. Reyes’ cumulative line: .143/.143/.143/.286, 2-for-14, 2 SO, 1 R, 2 CS, .167 BABIP in 13 games
Leones del Escogido –
Heath Wyatt (Memphis): Wyatt’s scoreless innings’ streak ended after 13 1/3 frames when the righty served up a two-run bomb to Phillies’ prospect Maikel Franco on the 25th. That was the first of eight relief appearances for the reporting period. He was not charged with another earned run until the 10th when he gave up another tally. Wyatt inherited runners in six of his eight appearances, twice with the sacks jammed. The Arkansas native left eight of 13 runners aboard but four of those scoring on him have occurred in his two most recent efforts, including a two on/none out situation. His line for the period: 1-0, 1 BS, 8 G, 3.68 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 7.1 IP, 8 H, 3 R/ER, 1 HR, 3 BB, 6 SO, .286 BAA, .333 BABIP. His cumulative numbers: 2-0, 22 G, 1.40 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 19.1 IP, 16 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 9 BB, 14 SO, .225 BAA, .268 BABIP, 20 IR/8 IRS in 11 chances
Mexican Pacific League
The eight-team Mexican League got underway October 9th and the regular season concludes December 29th.
Naranjeros de Hermosillo –
Ronnie Shaban (Springfield): Shaban is currently listed as a reserve on Hermosillo’s roster, having not pitched since October 25th. He has compiled a dismal record with one blown save in one game, a loss in another and three of four inherited runners crossing and has given up seven hits and three base-on-balls in 5 2/3 frames over six appearances for a 1.76 WHIP and .304 BAA, .389 BABIP. Shaban has been charged with only two runs, giving him a misleading 3.17 ERA and 3.02 FIP. Three of four inherited runners have scored.
Tomateros de Culiacan –
Irving Wilson (DSL): Wilson did well in very limited action, singling and doubling in four at bats over five games at catcher with a walk, run scored and RBI. He made one start, going 0-for-2 and was a late-innings replacement behind the plate three other times. That performance raised his overall mark to .217/.308/.261/.569, 5-for-23 in 16 games with a double, three base-on-balls, three runs scored, two driven in and seven strikeouts, .313 BABIP.
The five-team Columbian League’s season commenced on November 13th and finishes on January 6, 2016. Right-hander Jonathan Escudero (Johnson City) pitches for Caimanes while southpaw Dewin Perez (Peoria) is part of Cartegena’s staff. Unfortunately, the stats for either player are not currently available so the only update is the pleasant news that Escudero was chosen for the 2016 All-Star Team as a member of the Columbian squad. The game will take place on January 20th. The below information is through November 24th.
Caimanes de Barranquilla –
Jonathan Escudero (Johnson City): Escudero has pitched eight frames, allowing one run, earned, on five hits and a free pass for a 1.13 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and .179 BAA, .219 BABIP. The 22-year-old has struck out six of the 30 batters he has faced.
Tigres de Cartegena –
Dewin Perez (Peoria): Like Escudero, Perez has thrown eight innings but with very different results. The 21-year-old has been touched for eight hits, including one long ball, while issuing six free passes, resulting in six runs allows, all earned. That works out to a 6.75 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and .250 BAA, .292 BABIP. Perez has fanned seven of his 39 batters faced.
