Swauger on Cards Red Extended Spring – Part 3

One of two team managers in St. Louis Cardinals extended spring training discusses his young catchers.

In Part 1 of this three-part interview, the manager of the “Red” team at St. Louis Cardinals extended spring training camp, Chris Swauger, discussed many of the pitchers on his squad.

In Part 2, his remarks moved to the younger infielders and outfielders under he and his coaches’ leadership.

Here in Part 3, Swauger, who also coordinates the camp overall and leads Johnson City during the summer, covers catchers and the importance of their role with the young pitchers. Standouts include Dennis Ortega and Irving Wilson. Swauger closes with the importance of individual instruction. This final segment of this three-part interview is approximately seven and a half minutes.
