Thursday’s St. Louis Cardinals prospect highlights from the Arizona Fall League and a look ahead to Friday’s action.

Springfield reliever Rowan Wick tossed his first scoreless inning in four tries in Glendale’s Thursday win.

Results from game played Thursday, October 20th.

Glendale 3 vs. Mesa 2

An unearned tally in the eighth lifted Glendale (3-6) past Mesa (4-5), 3-2.

Center fielder Ramon Laureano (HOU) ignited the action with a ground-rule double.  It looked like the 22-year-old might be stranded there after a swinging K. the second out of the frame, but Laureano pushed the issue with a steal of third.  He scored when the throw of the Solar Sox’ catcher went awry.

Laureano’s double was one of the Desert Dogs’ seven hits.  Harrison Bader recorded a hit as well, a single, as well as a strikeout in three at bats out of the nine hole.  Bader manned left field and drove in his team’s second run, knotting the game at two all after four.

It was a red letter day for reliever Rowan Wick, who made his first AFL appearance in four without giving up a run.  Wick faced the minimum in the sixth, recording a hard hit ground out to first and a line drive out to center before striking out Mesa’s number six hitter swinging. Seven of the right-hander’s 12 pitches went for strikes.

Friday’s game:  at Peoria (6-1-2), 12:35 pm MST, Chris Anderson (0-1, 22.50) (LAD)
