Thursday’s St. Louis Cardinals prospect highlights from the Arizona Fall League and a look ahead to Friday’s action.

No St. Louis Cardinals appeared in Glendale’s Thursday afternoon win over Scottsdale.

Results from the game played Thursday, November 3rd.

Glendale 2 vs. Scottsdale 1

Two unearned runs lifted Glendale (9-12) past Scottsdale, 2-1 on Thursday afternoon. Spurred on again by Cardinals good-luck lineup card exchanger Harrison Bader, it was the Desert Dogs’ third consecutive victory.

Both tallies came in the fifth after Mets right-hander Corey Oswalt (L, 2-1) pitched himself into a jam by yielding back-to-back singles plus a walk to three straight hitters.  A grounder to third led to a throwing error by the Scorpions’ third baseman, bringing across two.

The Desert Dogs generated just five hits in all, two of them by shortstop Osvaldo Abreu (WSH) who singled twice in three at bats and scored what proved to be the winning margin.  He swiped his third base as well.  Left fielder Courtney Hawkins’ single, his only hit in three at bats, got Glendale on the board. Defensively, Hawkins was credited with an outfield assist after he nailed a runner at home in the seventh.

Starter Austin Voth (WSH) held Scottsdale (7-14) to three hits and two walks over five scoreless frames for his first win in three decisions.  The righty fanned two.

The only hit permitted by lefty Colton Turner (CWS) was a solo shot that brought the score to 2-1 after eight.  Dodgers’ right-hander Joe Broussard tossed a one-two-three ninth for his second save.

No St. Louis prospects saw action.

Friday’s game:  at Peoria (11-7), 12:35 pm MST, Austin Gomber (3-0, 2.12)
