Results for the Arizona Fall League game played on November 12.
One St. Louis Cardinals prospect was in the starting lineup for Glendale in this Saturday contest against Scottsdale. Paul DeJong started at shortstop and hit fifth for the Desert Dogs. Outfielder Harrison Bader entered the game in the sixth inning and played in center field.
DeJong singled in his initial at bat in the first inning. Teammate Drew Ward attempted to score on the play, but was thrown out at home. The infielder led off the fourth and doubled to left field. DeJong scored on a ground ball single by White Sox prospect Courtney Hawkins.
DeJong drew a walk in the sixth inning and scored on a home run by White Sox catching prospect Zack Collins.
Harrison Bader pinch hit in the sixth for the starting center fielder and leadoff hitter Jason Martin of the Astros. Bader lined out to second base to end the inning in his only plate appearance in the game.
DeJong took his final at bat in the seventh and popped out to short. DeJong finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. The Cardinal infield prospect is batting .224 with one home run and six RBI in AFL action.
On defense, DeJong had four putouts, including starting two double plays. Bader had one putout in center field.
No other Cardinals made an appearance.
