As you may have followed along in The Cardinal Nation’s top 50 prospect countdown, in multiple occurrences, I included quotes on players from St. Louis Cardinals Director of International Operations Moises Rodriguez. They were extracted from a 22-minute in-depth interview he granted me earlier this fall.
Due to my negligence, I had forgotten to run the audio for TCN members – until now. A comment on Twitter about my summary of the international signing class posted on my blog reminded me of my oversight.
In Part 1 of this exclusive interview, Rodriguez discusses the 2016 Dominican Summer League Cardinals team overall before going into the pitching – including recently signed Johan Oviedo. He also touches on the importance of budgets as they can affect the timing of international player signing announcements.
In Part 2, Rodriguez will talk about the DSL Cardinals offense before covering two of the top international signees, outfielders Jonatan Machado and Randy Arozarena. He then discusses how the Dominican instructional league would be organized and touches again on the age of the player impacting when he can start official play.
