More so than any other position prospect taken in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Harrison Bader has moved quickly. Skipping High-A for his first full-season, the third-rounder excelled in the Double-A Texas League, where he was an all-star, and got his first taste of Triple-A. The 22-year-old closed his 2016 with a successful stint in the Arizona Fall League.
While fellow outfielder Magneuris Sierra drew raves early, it was Bader who remained until the end, playing consistently well in his first-ever Major League spring training camp. With a partial season ahead at Memphis, the right-handed hitter could thrust his way into the St. Louis picture later this summer, and remain for a long time to come as the club’s fourth outfielder.
In the following interview, the Florida resident spoke before leaving Cardinals spring training camp in Jupiter, Florida, for his next stop in Memphis. Subjects include his progress to date and expectations for the future.
