PB Cardinals fall short in comeback

PALM BEACH CARDINALS PRESS RELEASE

April 8, 2005 – The Jupiter Hammerheads went up 2-0 in this year's Fins and Feathers series after knocking off the Palm Beach Cardinals for the second consecutive night at Roger Dean Stadium. The Hammerheads survived a late Cardinal surge, and went on to win the game by a final of 7-6.

Hammerheads' starter Adam Bostick was solid in 5 innings of work, giving up only three hits on two earned runs while fanning six. Reliever Carlos Martinez, who pitched the 8th, struggled after making two outs in the inning. Martinez gave up a solo home run to Cody Haerther (his 2nd of the year), followed by a single to left, and a two-run homer to Matt Dryer.

In the end, Jupiter proved to have the offense to withstand the Palm Beach rally. Hammerheads' first baseman Ryan Bear drove in two runs on the night, as did catcher Tony Arnerich. Newcomer Reggie Abercrombie, who was acquired earlier in the day, homered in his second at-bat.

Cardinals' starter Tyler Adamczyk (0-1) pitched six innings, giving up four hits on five runs while striking out four.

Matt Overman (1-0) recorded the win for Jupiter. Ryan Baker came on to earn his first save of the season
