As a result, I am pleased to announce that Rains and his publisher, Sports Publishing, LLC (www.SportsPublishingLLC.com) have selected The Birdhouse to exclusively publish seven installments of Cardinals Where Have You Gone? in their entirety.
One former player will be featured every Friday starting on May 6, with the series running through June 17. With both Mother's Day and Father's Day on the way, what better choice of a gift could one choose than a book about past Cardinals' heroes?
The first of the seven segments, the one on May 6, will be available to all Birdhouse readers. However, to read the six subsequent ones, you'll need to be a Scout.com Insider – another benefit for subscribing to The Birdhouse.
Everyone gets an opportunity to decide which players will be featured in all seven segments. Between now and Sunday, May 1, each reader gets one vote for the former player's story they'd most like to see published on The Birdhouse.
The May 6 installment will feature the player who receives the most votes. May 13's story will highlight the second place vote-getter and so on each Friday through June 17.
To place your vote, send me an email at email@example.com, with a subject line "Cardinals Where Have You Gone? Vote" along with one player's name from the list of 39 former Cardinals below. One vote per person, please. Voting ends May 1.
The former Cardinals players are: Jack Clark, Rex Hudler, Dal Maxvill, John Morris, Ken Reitz, Danny Cox, Greg Mathews, Tom Nieto, Ray Washburn, Bob Tewksbury, Mike Jorgenson, Andy Van Slyke, Ernie Broglio, Rick Horton, Pat Perry, Ray Cunningham, John Tudor, Tom Pagnozzi, Ken Dayley, Tom Lawless, Kent Bottenfield, Rick Wise, Steve Braun, Vince Coleman, Bud Smith, Jeff Lahti, Ted Simmons, Ron Taylor, Scott Terry, John Stuper, Phil Gagliano, Bob Sykes, Tito Landrum, Charlie James, Garry Templeton, Dave LaPoint, Dick Groat and Todd Worrell.
