PB Cardinals rally for win

PALM BEACH CARDINALS PRESS RELEASE

April 16, 2005 - JUPITER, FL- Matt Dryer went 3 for 4 with two RBI and Ty Parker hit his third home run of the year as the Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the St. Lucie Mets at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday night.

Cardinals' reliever Wayne Lundgren (1-1) pitched the seventh inning in relief and earned the win.

Mets' shortstop Corey Ragsdale led off the game with a home run, but the Cardinals answered with two runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run homer by Ty Parker. Solo home runs by Lastings Milledge and Blake Whealy in the third and fourth respectively gave the lead back to the Mets, but the Cardinals again came right back in the bottom of the frame.

With one out, Ty Parker was hit by a pitch and came around to score on a double by Terry Evans. On the relay throw home by Ragsdale, the ball skipped past the catcher and ended up in the Cardinal dugout on the first base side, allowing Evans to score as well.

The Mets retook the lead with single runs in the sixth and seventh. But for the third time of the night, the Cardinals fought back to take the lead – this time for good. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Brendan Ryan walked to start the rally. After a single to Cody Haerther, Matt Dryer doubled down the left field line, plating both Ryan and Haerther.

Cardinals' starter Mark Michael gave up four runs (three earned) in six innings of work. Mark Worrell pitched the ninth to earn his first save of the season.
