PB Cardinals Suffer Another Loss

Cardinals starting pitcher Stuart Pomeranz (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season after giving up five earned runs and nine hits over six innings.

April 18, 2005 - VERO BEACH, FL – Vero Beach pitcher Chuck Tiffany threw six innings of one-hit ball en route to his second victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals in a week. Tiffany (3-0) struck out five of the first eight batters he faced and finished with seven strikeouts on the night. The only hit he allowed was a leadoff double in the fourth inning to Cardinals shortstop Brendan Ryan.

The Cardinals, who managed only three hits total, fall to 1-3 against Vero Beach this season and 5-6 overall, 1 ½ games behind the division-leading Jupiter Hammerheads. This series against Vero Beach marks the first official road trip of the season for Palm Beach. Earlier in the year, the Cards were the visitors at Roger Dean Stadium against the Hammerheads.
