High-A – Palm Beach Cardinals 4, Dunedin Blue Jays 0
(The Birdhouse News) The Palm Beach Cardinals broke their losing streak by defeating the Dunedin Blue Jays 4-0. In what can be termed a "bullpen-by-committee" start, reliever Jose Garcia (2-0, 4.40 ERA) started in Mark Michael's usual rotation slot and threw five strong innings to pick up the win. Garcia struck out six while walking two and gave up three hits. Relievers Wayne Lundgren, Andy Cavazos and Mark Worrell combined for four shut-out innings, allowing only one hit and two walks.
The Cardinals broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth when Tyler Parker legged out an infield single and stole second. After John Santor walked and Tony McQuade flew out, Terry Evans came through with a two-out infield single that scored Parker and moved Santor to third. Matt Pagnozzi duplicated Evans' effort with his own infield hit to score Santor and put the Cardinals up 2-0. The Cardinals added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings when Santor scored on a wild pitch and Cody Haerther had an inside-the-park home run on a fly ball to right field.
