High-A – Palm Beach Cardinals 7, Clearwater Threshers 4
(The Birdhouse News) A steady scoring attack by the Cardinals led to a 7-4 victory over the Clearwater Threshrs Tuesday evening. The Cardinals, led by center fielder Jonny Kaplan, designated hitter Matt Dryer and first baseman John Santor, scored in five of the nine innings. Kaplan, leading off, went 2-for-5 with two runs scored while clean-up hitter Matt Dryer went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an rbi on a fourth-inning solo shot home run. John Santor, batting in the seven hole, went 2-for-4 with two rbi's. Right fielder Tyler Parker has two rbi's with a run scored on 1-for-4 hitting. Chris Lambert (W, 6-1, 3.46 ERA) had an off night as he allowed four runs, all earned, on nine hits, include two home runs, and one walk in five innings pitched. Lambert also struck out five. Wayne Lundgren and Scott Schweitzer combined to shut down the Threshers for three innings and Mark Worrell picked up his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
