From the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette -
"The Springfield trip was also the first time Gamboa and the team laid eyes on 9,000-seat John Q. Hammons Field, one of the Texas League's two new ballparks this year. Gamboa already had seen Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas, and had rave reviews. "It was just fantastic," Gamboa said of Hammons Field. "The playing surface was even better than Corpus Christi." Gamboa said the team also enjoyed the amenities provided by the Cardinals, who are operated by their parent club in St. Louis. "It was first-class, everything," Gamboa said. "They can't do enough for you. TV in the players' room, TV in the manager's office. It's an A one, first-class operation."
(‘Gamboa' is Arkansas Travelers' manager Tom Gamboa)
