Exclusive Interview - Cody Haerther

Brian Walton meets with the top Cardinals outfield prospect while at the Arizona Fall League.

Cody Haerther was the Cardinals sixth round draft selection in June, 2002. He was drafted as a third baseman, but converted to outfield. Prior to the 2005 season, Baseball America named Haerther the number nine prospect in the Cardinals system.

The 22-year-old Californian has hit .300 three straight years and was named to the Florida State League All-Star squad in 2005. Haerther earned a promotion from Palm Beach to Springfield (Double-A) in early June.

Overall, in 381 at-bats between Palm Beach and Springfield, Haerther hit .307 with 18 home runs and 67 RBI. In 53 at-bats in Arizona, the left-handed hitter is batting just .189 with five RBI.

I caught up with Cody Haerther this week.
