JS (40): "For me, it came down to Ankiel or Ferris for the 39th spot on the list. I chose Ankiel. At this point, I think Ferris has been a pretty big disappointment and feel that Ankiel has the better chance to make an impact at the major league level. It would be nice to see him work his way up to Springfield next season. A good 2006 could change my opinion."

LM (40): "Ferris squeaked onto the list with a strong finish to his second professional season.  He compiled a .373 on-base percentage from June 1st onwards which was another factor in his favor.  He needs to make a strong move up or he will be surpassed on the list by the '05 and '06 draftees ."

RM (35): "Led Swing of Quad Cities with home runs (16) and RBI (69) but it was his batting average of just .230 against Class A pitching that kept Ferris from ranking higher. I would expect to see some improvements next season in his approach to the plate that could help move this young slugger up in the rankings."

BW (37): "Yes, he hit for power in one college season. Now, how about just a bit of batting average, too? (A .222 mark over two years doesn't cut it.) Perhaps if he does, Walt Jocketty can include Ferris in a deal with an American League team, as he would be blocked at first base for at least the next eight years, anyway. That assumes Ferris actually makes it to St. Louis, an assumption that is far from assured. After all, 2004's second rounder only hit .171 in the Instructional League this fall, for Pete's sake!"
