JS (14): "Jones is a very exciting prospect. A top football prospect in high school, Jones wasn't expected to sign if he was drafted, as he had already committed to Rice for baseball, but the Cardinals were able to get him with a $450,000 signing bonus. He is on of the best athletes in the Cardinals system. Scouts have compared him to Kenny Lofton with more power."

LM (24): "Jones' ranking is very much one of tools over on-field performance. In fact my ranking of 24 was done solely on his projected upside as he hit .209/.311/.286/.597 this season in the rookie level Appalachian League. He went .179/.312/.218/.530 the last month of the season. In his defense, he turned 18 in June and was the second youngest player on the Johnson City roster. He has plenty of time to live up to his third round draft pick status."

RM (14): "Is considered perhaps the best athlete in the Cardinals minor league system. He runs the 60-yard dash in 6.4 seconds. In 61 games for Rookie-level Johnson City, Jones hit .209/.311/.286, stealing 10 bases in 14 attempts. Jones had NCAA Division 1-A football offers as a wide receiver, but decided on baseball, his favorite sport, over football. He is ranked this high primarily based on his athletic ability and potential."

BW (17): "Baseball America calls Jones both the best athlete and fastest runner in the entire Cardinals system. That seems like a lofty amount of praise to heap onto an 18-year-old just out of high school. But, the lefthanded-hitting outfielder has all the tools to become someone special. Of course, the same kinds of things were being said about Shaun Boyd five years ago. So, as always, time will tell."
