From today's edition of The Arkansas Democrat Gazette -
‘After a two-year layoff, Gaylen Pitts of Mountain Home will return to baseball this summer, managing the Staten Island Yankees of the rookie New York-Penn League.

A longtime minor-league manager, mostly in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, Pitts was a St. Louis coach under Manager Joe Torre from 1991-1995. He managed the Arkansas Travelers to a Texas League pennant in 1989 and the Class AAA Memphis Redbirds into the 2000 Little World Series.

The New York-Penn is a shortseason league that cranks up after baseball's amateur draft in June. Pitts will be involved with the New York Yankees' system from the beginning of regular spring training at Tampa, Fla.'
