On Wednesday, the St. Louis
Cardinals introduced the 2006 starting lineup of radio stations that will
comprise the Cardinals Radio Network, giving the team and its fans throughout
Led by the Cardinals' new flagship station, 550 KTRS, 115 affiliate radio stations in nine states will deliver Cardinals baseball action described by the new broadcast team of Mike Shannon and John Rooney. The first spring training broadcast will be Saturday, March 4, when the Cardinals play the Florida Marlins in Grapefruit League action at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla.
Following the initial broadcast on
March 4, KTRS will broadcast 16 more spring training games – all games on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as a Friday game on March 31
vs. the New York Mets – with many members of the Cardinals Radio
Network also picking up the exhibition games. The 2006 season will mark the first
season in many years that the Tuesday-Thursday spring training broadcasts will
be aired live in
To ensure the broadest reach in
Cardinals Radio Network history, the Cardinals and KTRS today announced that 12
stations in new network markets were added to the family of radio affiliates,
and seven new stations with stronger signals will replace former stations in
existing network markets.
Meanwhile, 96 radio stations are returning to the network fold, which
reaches nine Midwestern states –

also strengthened in the offseason by the addition of seven stations with
stronger signals in existing network markets, with five in

"Baseball is a radio sport and Cardinals fans are passionate about their team. We have a responsibility to deliver for them, and we will."
