The Cardinals are taking on the Mets tonight in about an hour.
Today was business as usual with the exception that half the starting lineup is out, with injuries or en-route to the World Baseball Classic. In the interest of wanting to be politically correct; I will refrain from commenting on my take on the WBC.
The bus left the stadium just a couple of hours ago, en-route to St. Lucie for tonight's game.
I've just finished checking into the hotel and I'm beginning the programming planning for next week.
Coming up this week!
I will be doing the Midwest Sports Tonight shows next week. Here is our schedule;
Monday @ 6:30 p.m. FSN Midwest

In addition I will be hosting a "Live" nightly chat at the Birdhouse at http://stlcardinals.scout.com beginning Saturday night at 8:00 p.m.
Some of the stories we are currently working on include;
Post game reports
An update on Randy Flores. Forget about Rincon, this is the guy who is going to take Ray Kings' place.
An interview with one of the youngest players in camp, catcher, Bryan Anderson.
A look at the results of Tyler Johnson's workout from Sunday.
Follow up on Scott Rolen; I'm not sure he's going to be ready. I know for sure later this week.
Here is your chance to be a producer. You got an idea or a question, just drop me a line either firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by during our live chat events. I'll do my best to answer your questions or go out and find the answer.
Got a story idea? Send it to me. It could be part of our Friday night show.
Saturday - Florida Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals March 4th @ 1:05 p.m. My understanding is Sidney Ponson is going to start Saturday. I'll be there to let you know how he looked on the mound.
Sunday - St. Louis Cardinals vs. Florida Marlins March 5th @ 1:05 p.m. Tyler Johnson will be working out before the game on a back field. If the Cardinals need another left-hander, will Johnson be the answer?
The retired and former St. Louis Cardinal pitcher, Cal Eldred, is expected to be in camp for Sunday's game as a special instructor. I would like to see him spend some time with Adam Wainwright and Anthony Reyes. I'll keep you posted.
Monday - The Florida Marlins will play the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday March 6th @ 1:05. If you miss seeing J.D. Drew watching baseball games more than playing them, you won't want to miss this game. It isn't likely he'll be ready to play by Monday.
Jason Marquis - is probably going to have his best season ever this year. He seems focused and committed and I caught him putting in extra time in the gym this afternoon.
Ricardo Rincon - I'm troubled by him showing up almost two weeks late and then taking off to the World Baseball Classic, after tonight's game. He insist he is healthy and ready to play and it doesn't seem to bother the Cardinals as much as it does me. It must be my problem.
Juan Encarnacion - Another player off to the World Baseball Classic. Hopefully he hustles a little more there than he did in his first spring training game, not hustling on a ball hit to right. Yes, it is just an exhibition and it is the first game. If first impressions are important, than Encarnacion and Rincon have failed to make good ones.
Tyler Johnson - was scratched from a scheduled appearance in Thursday's game due to soreness in his throwing elbow. He is expected to throw in a "B" game on Sunday morning before the Cardinals face Florida at Roger Dean Stadium, according to the St. Louis Cardinals' official website. I'll be there to chart his progress.
"I was in the cage a week ago swinging -- I've been hitting a lot -- and I kind of got out in front, and my elbow just locked," Johnson said. "It's nothing serious. I've been throwing. But I told them it was a little tender and stuff, so [they said] just take it easy."
Johnson has continued throwing since the incident, even tossing live batting practice. But when it came time to make a decision on pitching in a game, Johnson and the Cards opted for caution.
Mark Mulder - is scheduled to start Sunday's game.
