Cody's Corner 2006 – Edition One

Cody Haerther, the top position player prospect in the Cardinals system and Springfield outfielder, is back to report on life in the minor leagues throughout the 2006 campaign.

When I last saw Cody Haerther at the Cardinals Roger Dean Stadium complex ten days ago, he was heading toward the cages for some extra batting practice, then to treatment for a sore hamstring. The good news is that those troubles are behind him and he is ready for the 2006 season.

For this initial 2006 edition of Cody's Corner, I reached Cody in Florida on Sunday night, just before his club breaks camp. Haerther reviews his spring and much more – what he expects it to be like playing in the Busch Stadium opener on Tuesday, the logistical challenges he and his peers face as they break camp and head north and thoughts about some of his new Springfield teammates.

As before, Cody will entertain readers' questions this season, so please email them to me at the address below. We will try to include as many of them as possible in future installments of Cody's Corner. Next time, we may even have a few photographic surprises!
