Cardinals Sign Former Cub To A Deal

Cunnane to start for Memphis Wednesday in Las Vegas.

The Cardinals signed 32 year old, right-hander Will Cunnane to a minor league contract, today.

Cunnane is expected to start for Triple-A Memphis Wednesday night, on the road against the Las Vegas.

The 6'1" 200 pound pitcher, last pitched in the major leagues with the Atlanta Braves in 2004 and also has pitched for San Diego, Milwaukee and the Chicago Cubs. In 184 games, including 12 starts, he's 13-12 with a 5.26 ERA.

He spent last season at Triple-A with Houston and the Cubs.

Memphis is looking for all the help they can get. They are currently 11-19 overall and 3-11 on the road.

Cunnane is expected to start tonight, while Matt Smith who was originally scheduled to start for Memphis, has been moved to the bullpen.
