Exclusive Interview - David Eckstein

The Cardinals shortstop covers a variety of current topics in this audio interview.

Even though it is just his second-year in St. Louis, Cardinals shortstop David Eckstein has cemented his legacy at the front of a long line of scrappy middle infield fan favorites to have donned the Birds on the Bat.

But, Eckstein is about a lot more than just scrappiness. Tony La Russa calling Eckstein the toughest player he has ever managed is a tremendous compliment, especially when you consider the thousands of players the Cardinals skipper has seen in his 28 years in the major leagues.

I sat down with Eckstein the other day to discuss his year two as a Cardinal, his various second base partners, his impressions of the new Busch, some interesting home-road and runners in scoring position splits and more, much more. As a special bonus, only here can you hear Albert Pujols serenading So Taguchi. Honest!
