Interview – Cards First-Rounder Adam Ottavino

Brian Walton caught up with Northeastern University's Adam Ottavino Wednesday after he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals with their first selection (30th overall) in the First-Year Player Draft.&nbsp

Much has been written about Adam Ottavino to date with a lot more ink to be spilled in the future. Such is the increased scrutiny attached to any first-round pick. But, from our conversation, it seems that this 20-year-old right-hander has the maturity and smarts to leverage his immense talent.

In this audio interview, Ottavino recounts what the last two days have been like, discusses his new organization, explains how the competition in the Cape Cod League made him a better pitcher and how his successes at Northeastern raised his draft visibility.

Ottavino goes on to provide a personal scouting report on his arsenal of pitches and how he hopes to continue to grow as a pitcher.

If this interview is any indication, the Cardinals have a keeper in Adam Ottavino.
