The recent struggles of the Cardinals have led some to suggest that drastic action is warranted – trading to-be free agents now for players who can help down the road. One such thread was started by BW23 and is called "Blow It Up". That led to a long and interesting discussion about trade scenarios.
Another thread in the same line was started by a new board poster, BigRedBirdFan51, who has decided it is "Time to look toward the future", as he suggests trading Mark Mulder and Jason Marquis. Regular poster rbdrdbrd offered a strong post on this thread and several first-time posters also joined in the discussion on this thread.
For the second week in a row, one of our fine mods, Gagliano made a stellar post. Gags took a look back at the Cardinals' monthly record in recent seasons, looking for a parallel to the current rough stretch in the thread entitled "losing months in recent years".
SydneyDave receives an honorable mention for the second week in a row as he again spiced up an existing thread. This time, Dave analyzed the Cardinals' potential run production without Albert Pujols here: "Jocketty, WAKE UP!!".
Along the same line of thinking, longhornbaseball had posted a view of runs lost with Chris Duncan in the line-up instead of Albert Pujols. He concluded Brian Daubach would have been a better addition. "Pujols to Duncan".
With the amateur draft coming this past Tuesday and Wednesday, the topic was a hot one. Poster bccran researched the statistics of the Cardinals' drafted pitchers here: "Drafted Pitchers - Stats".
And, the top post this week also comes from the draft subject, as Bokonon2 researched the last ten Cardinals draft classes. We thought so much of it that we published it on the main Birdhouse site here. In addition, the message board thread is called "The Long Wait".
As a result, I am pleased to announce that Bokonon2 is our weekly winner for June 4 through June 10. Bokonon2 is a three-time winner, having also made winning posts back in February and March.
Thank you for your many fine contributions to our community, Bokonon2, and keep making these informative posts. And as always, congratulations to all of last week's honorable mentions.
In recognition, Bokonon2 wins a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.
Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
