I caught up with Jay Wednesday evening, as he and his Miami Hurricanes teammates were in Omaha, Nebraska preparing to compete in the 2006 College World Series. Though he is completing his junior season, Jay says he is ready to sign once the Series is over.
For one of the nation's premier college programs, the 5'-11", 200 pound left-hander has proven to be solid hitter with line drive power and a smart baserunner who can steal a base.
Jay's Hurricanes squad take on Oregon State on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Central. Here is a link to the CWS schedule and to audio of every game. Fourth rounder Eddie Degerman's Rice Owls also play Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Jay batted .347 this season and .408 as a sophomore.
At the plate, Jay uses the whole field.
