Cody's Corner - July 21, 2006

Cody Haerther, Springfield left fielder and's fifth-ranked prospect in the Cardinals system prior to the season, posts regular reports on life in the minor leagues throughout the 2006 campaign.

For this edition of Cody's Corner, I reached Springfield Cardinals outfielder Cody Haerther in Wichita on Friday afternoon before heading to the ballpark for the evening contest against the Wranglers. Haerther has been battling a flu bug, but agreed to talk with me, anyway.

Cody reviews his disappointing first half and what he plans to do differently here in the second half, highlights several standout players on the Springfield roster, recounts his conversation with rehabbing major leaguer Larry Bigbie, talks about the impact of trade rumors and gives an update on his younger brother Casey, who was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 34th round of the June draft out of high school in California.

As always, Haerther will entertain readers' questions this season, so please email them to me at the address below. We will try to include as many of them as possible in future installments of Cody's Corner here at
