Meet the Crew - 2006 NLDS Umpires Named

Major League Baseball has assigned Gerry Davis and his crew of five umpires to work the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals - San Diego Padres National League Division Series.

Major League Baseball has assigned the four umpiring crews that will work the American League and National League Division Series, scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 3rd and Wednesday, October 4th. The four crew chiefs will be Tim McClelland (Detroit-Yankees), Randy Marsh (Oakland-Minnesota), John Hirschbeck (Dodgers-Mets) and Gerry Davis (San Diego-St. Louis).

This marks the sixth Division Series for Davis, who is in his 23rd year as a Major League umpire. Davis also has worked seven League Championship Series, three World Series and three All-Star Games.

Davis' crew includes four postseason veterans, plus one first-timer. Brian Gorman has previously worked eight postseason series, Wally Bell seven, Greg Gibson three and Bill Welke one. Marty Foster is receiving his first-ever playoff assignment.

Umpires for the League Championship Series and the 102nd World Series will be announced later.
