Even with emotions high over the playoffs and World Series and a number of new visitors on the board, some with less than positive intentions, this was a banner week. It just required some filtering.
The best post this past week can technically not be the winner, because the poster is a moderator, but that doesn't mean it cannot be called out. "Gagliano" summed up the feelings of many Cardinals fans about their team winning the World Series as he shared "What I enjoy about this".
This week's honorable mention posts include another fine post by "JCInfo", a recent winner here. This time he started a new thread entitled "St. Louis Postseason Stats (Pitching is the Answer)", in which a statistical comparison is made between the Cardinals of the regular season and the Cardinals of the post season.
"TigerZone" addressed head-on all the griping about the Tigers handing the Series to the Cardinals point by point, or should I say "error by error", here: "Anyone else tired of hearing this crap!".
"cpebbles" is not the only reader concerned about the leanings of ESPN's "Keith Law". cpeb ran a rebuttal of one of Law's recent "prediction" articles with very simple and powerful points of fact. As a side point, I have been carrying on an email discussion off and on for several months with a name-brand member of the Cardinals front office about the slant of Law's articles.
Not every recognized post must be rooted in sabermetric logic or be a detailed analysis. Sometimes, they are just plain fun. "SouthpawRighty" shared a simple rain delay-induced limerick and encouraged a number of others to join in, including our friend "childhoodtrauma" from our partner "St. Louis Game Time" here: "Perhaps I'm encroaching on Ducky... (Limerick)".
Our winning post this week came from "haltz", a recent addition to the community. haltz contributed to an existing thread, "Miles 2b", a very well thought-out analysis of Aaron Miles vs. Ron Belliard at second base as well as a quick look at potential free-agent additions.
In recognition of a fine post, "haltz" wins a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.
Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
