2007 Cards Spring Training Minors Schedules

March, 2007 Single, Double and Triple-A schedules for St. Louis Cardinals prospects during spring training in Florida.

Granted, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me, no Spring Training trip to sunny Florida in March can be considered compete without an excursion to the back diamonds to watch the young and eager minor leaguers in action.

The St. Louis Cardinals offer better opportunities than most clubs to get up close and personal with their prospects. Most March mornings at Jupiter, Florida's Roger Dean Stadium, the players will be working out in preparation for afternoon games that begin on Wednesday, March 14 and run through Sunday, April 1.

On eleven of those 19 days, at least one of the three Cardinals minor league clubs have home games scheduled, with the first pitch at 1:00 P.M.. Four other days, all three clubs are on the road. But, the good news is that the "road" trips are only to the other side of the Jupiter complex, the Cardinals' shared home with the Florida Marlins. The other four days, the Cards clubs are scheduled to work out in camp, likely with team scrimmages planned.

So, the bottom line is that pretty much every day during March, you should be able to find minor league activity going on somewhere in the Jupiter complex.

All the Cardinals 2007 minor league spring training contests will be held against prospects from one of three organizations whose camps are nearby – the Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets.

With the respective home plates on the Roger Dean back fields arranged in close proximity to each other like in a softball complex, one can easily move between the various games by taking just a few steps.

Plus, you'll never know who you will run into. One day last spring during the afternoon contests, I chatted briefly with Walt Jocketty and multiple members of the Cardinals brass, Mets manager Willie Randolph, the parents of prospect Travis Hanson, Springfield broadcaster extraordinaire Mike Lindskog, several members of our message board community and seemingly countless numbers of prospects, some of whom were watching the games just like everyone else.

So, if you're interested in the Cardinals minor leaguers, make sure you catch the action this spring in Florida. You'll be glad you did!
