Post of the Week – April 8 through April 14

Recognizing the very best post of the week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over.

As we do each and every week here at, we call out the best of the best - the "Post of the Week" from our Cardinals message board, this time for the week ending Saturday, April 14.

Here is the link to our new Message Board.

For the second consecutive period, the honorable mention posts have grown, with seven of them this week, the most notable selected as our weekly winner.

"greenback44" used the recent bad weather to serious advantage, sharing some in-depth research on over 50 years of major league pitching performances. The focus is on career overachievers and underachievers. The thread is called "Some Spreadsheet Stuff on Pitcher W/L Records".

"The sky is not falling!" was the proclamation of our Poster of the Week from two weeks ago, "baseballatc". An analysis of the still-young Cardinals season to date provides reason to remain upbeat.

Our winner from three weeks ago, "easton714", joined in a discussion that began with pondering the possibility of Florida's Miguel Cabrera becoming a Cardinal called "Cabrera anyone?". While the conversation meandered in other directions, including the value of lineup protection or lack thereof in its six pages and counting, make sure you check out "easton714's" comments near the bottom of page four as well as "photonblaster's" on page five.

"highrent" joined in the thread called "Jason Schmidt - Fastball sitting at 82 mph!" offering a solid perspective on the tradeoffs organizations have to consider when deciding where to invest.

"CariocaCardinal" took a look at Cardinals minor league players under the age of 21 in the new thread called "Palm Beach Teetotallers?". With so much youthful talent in the organization, optimism is surely warranted.

"First call-ups/send-downs" is a thread where "CariocaCardinal" spiced things up with detailed analysis of which players might be called up from the minor league to replace each of the Cardinals front-line players – pitchers and hitters alike.

In this close contest with so many other solid contenders, our winner this week is "CariocaCardinal", solely on the basis of placing two separate posts on our honorable mention list this week. "CariocaCardinal" collects a free four-week subscription to and all the other great sites in the network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
