Adam Ottavino picked up his first win of the 2007 season by pitching six shutout innings on Tuesday to lead his team to a win over the Port St. Lucie Mets.

Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A): Zephyrs 6-5 over Redbirds

Former St. Louis Cardinal third baseman Fernando Tatis hit a two-run homer to help lead the New Orleans Zephyrs to a 6-5 win over the Memphis Redbirds on Tuesday.

Memphis Redbirds first baseman Tagg Bozied hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to pull the Redbirds within one, but the Zephyrs held on for the win.

Memphis starter Mike Smith (1-2) suffered his second loss of the season, giving up six runs on 10 hits through six innings.

RECORD: 6-7, in third place behind 0.5 games back of Iowa and Nashville.


Springfield Cardinals (Double-A): Lost to the RoughRiders 5-2

It was a rough ride for the Springfield Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon as they were handed another loss by the Frisco RoughRiders by a score of 5-2, as Frisco completed a three-game sweep of the Cardinals and their fourth loss in a row.

The sweep marks the first winless home stand in Springfield's history.

Starting pitcher Chris Lambert took the loss after giving up back-to-back homers in the fifth.

Palm Beach Cardinals (High-A): Defeated St. Lucie 8-1

The St. Louis Cardinals 2006 top draft pick Adam Ottavino pitched six shutout innings Tuesday to pick up his first win of the season. Ottavino scattered six hits on the day, striking out four batters and walking only one. The win moves the Cardinals one game above the .500 mark with a record of 6-5.

The hitting star of the day, DH Casey Rowlett went 4-for-4, with three RBI.

Swing of Quad Cities (A): Shutout by Dayton 3-0

The Swing managed to generate eight hits but could never get a run across the plate on Tuesday as the unbeaten Dayton Dragons picked up their eighth straight win of the season.

Swing starter Tyler Herron's record dropped to 0-2 after giving up three runs on five hits in four innings.

RECORD: 6-6, 3.0 GB behind the 8-2 Clinton LumberKings.


Batavia Muckdogs (SS)

Season opens on Tuesday June 19th, against the Auburn Doubledays.


Johnson City Cardinals (R)

The Cardinals will open the season on the road in Greenville on Tuesday, June 19th.



Minor League Pitcher of the Day

Adam Ottavino pitched six shutout innings on Tuesday to pick up his first win of the season. He struck out four batters in the contest, walking only one while scattering six hits to lead his team to a win over Port St. Lucie.


Minor League Player of the Day

Casey Rowlett went 4-for-4 on Tuesday to include an RBI triple to lead his team to a win behind starting pitcher Adam Ottavino. Rowlett in the lineup as the DH, drove in three runs on the day, which was all his team needed for the win.
