Cards Extended Spring Training Stats – May 1

St. Louis Cardinals minor league players' statistics from Extended Spring Training.

At the start of April, 42 St. Louis Cardinals organization minor league players remained behind in Jupiter, Florida when the roughly 100 players assigned to the four full-season minor league affiliates broke camp and headed north. In addition, 30 Latin American players joined those working out and rehabbing, all coming together in what is called Extended Spring Training.

Earlier, three players, pitchers Armando Carrasco (Quad Cities) and Eric Haberer (Springfield) and outfielder Ian Church (Palm Beach) left camp to join their full-season clubs. Since our last report, at least three other players have followed. They include pitcher Kyle McClellan (Palm Beach), catcher Christian Reyes (Quad Cities) and second baseman Jaime Landin (Quad Cities).

Many of the other rehabbing players are expected to follow when they are ready and teams have openings to receive them. In addition, catcher/utilityman Eli Marrero, on Memphis' disabled list, has gotten into Extended Spring Training action in Florida.

The eight-week schedule, which runs through June 2, is now half over. Regular opponents are the Extended Spring Training clubs from the Nationals, Dodgers, Mets and Marlins. Click on this link to see the 2007 Cardinals Extended Spring Training schedule.
