The Springfield Cardinals Report – Week Six

Our exclusive weekly report on the 2007 edition of the Double-A Springfield Cardinals calls out outfielder Sean Danielson.

The Springfield Cardinals have been on the road for the past five days playing the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park in Little Rock. In Sunday's (May 13) game. Cory Rauschenberger gave a great performance dropping the Travelers 9-4 in the opening game of a four-game series. Monday's game saw the Cards lose to Arkansas 4-3 with Jaime Garcia giving up four runs in five innings and receiving his second straight loss of the season. Jon Jay's 10-run hitting streak also ended in that game.

Tuesday's game was rained out and was postponed and will be made up at a later date to be determined in mid-June. On Wednesday, the Cards rallied in the seventh inning to come from behind and beat the Travs 7-4. Jay hit his second home run of the season and Kevin Ool got the win while Chris Perez earned his ninth save in his last 10 attempts.

Springfield Cardinals outfielder Sean Danielson was named Player of the Week by the Texas League. A non-draftee out of Kansas State, he went 11-for-26 in a seven-game stretch. The run included five doubles, eight RBI and five runs scored. In a three-game span at home against Wichita, Danielson went 5-for-10, picking up four RBI and hitting a double in each game. The switch-hitting leadoff man had five multi-hit games during one weekend and rode a five game hitting streak. Last year with Palm Springs, the 5-foot-8 outfielder hit .249 with 12 doubles, five triples and 22 stolen bases.
