Pujols Named Player of the Week, July 9-15

Albert Pujols, who led the National League with four home runs and a slugging percentage of 1.357, has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for the period of July 9-15.

Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

The 27-year old first baseman also led the N.L. with 19 total bases while posting a .429 (6-14) batting average, collecting five RBI, scoring five runs and recording an on-base percentage of .429. The six-time N.L. All-Star homered in three consecutive games at Philadelphia from July 13-15. In Sunday's game, Pujols went deep twice to record his 19th and 20th home runs of the season, becoming the 21st player in Major League history to hit at least 20 homers in each of his first seven seasons.
