Springfield Cardinals (Double-A):

The Cardinals who also won the first-half title and will face Wild Card winner the Tulsa Drillers in the best-of-five, opening round of the playoffs, beginning today.

RECENT ROSTER MOVES: The Cards have made another roster move on Saturday, bolstering their bullpen for the upcoming playoffs. Right-handed reliever Luke Gregerson has joined Springfield from Palm Beach of the Florida State League. Gregerson has had an outstanding 2007 campaign, going 3-4 with a 1.97 ERA in 53 appearances (tied for the league-lead). He recorded 29 saves in 31 chances as the Palm Beach closer, ranking third in the league. Gregerson was drafted in the 28th round of the 2006 June Draft. Gregerson gave up a lead-off single in the ninth inning on Sunday night, but fanned the next three men to end the game in his Texas League debut. To make room on the roster, the Cards have put Mike Sillman on the Disabled List for tightness in his right forearm.

Outfielder Mark Shorey has re-joined the ballclub after a brief stint with Palm Beach of the Florida State League. Shorey started the year at Quad Cities of the Midwest League, but was promoted all the way to Springfield in May, playing in 60 games for the Cards while batting .269 with 11 homers and 33 RBIs. Shorey was sent down due to lack of playing time in the outfield. The North Carolina native played in 19 games for Palm Beach, batting .286 with three homers and 16 RBIs. Shorey will take the roster spot of Rico Washington, who lands on the Disabled List with two broken bones in his left cheek.

Swing of Quad Cities (A): DAY OFF

The 2007 post-season ready will get underway tonight at John O'Donnell Stadium at 6:30 p.m.

The Swing of the Quad Cities announced that finalized their playoff roster on Tuesday with the addition of infielder Daniel Descalso. In a corresponding move, outfielder Antone DeJesus was placed on the Disabled List.

Descalso, 20, was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 2007 draft out of UC-Davis, making him the highest drafted player ever out of that university. After hitting .397 with 22 doubles and 53 runs in 56 games for the Aggies, Descalso made his pro debut with the Batavia Muckdogs of the New York-Penn League. Descalso hit .268 with 31 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 66 games with Batavia, including a stretch from July 24-August 31 in which he hit safely in 30 of 33 games while batting .346.

DeJesus, a 21-year-old out fielder taken in the 16th round of the draft out of Kentucky, was placed on the DL with a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist. The speedy leadoff hitter had emerged as a stellar defender and sparkplug for the Swing offense before the injury, scoring 30 runs and stealing nine bases in 42 games, including a 13-game hitting streak from July 22-August 4. DeJesus had been limited to pinch-running duties since August 21.
