Another St. Louis Cardinal legend in the making, Colby Rasmus hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth to lead the Springfield Cardinals to a 4-3 win over the Tulsa Drillers. The Cardinals are now just one win away from the Texas League Championship Series.

RECORD: 56-88, 4th Place, 33.0 GB

 

Springfield Cardinals (Double-A): Winners 4-3 over Tulsa

Colby Rasmus' walk-off homer in the ninth inning gave Springfield Cardinals a 4-3 win over the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday in Game 2 of the Texas League semifinals. The Cardinals now lead the best-of-five series, 2-0.

Starter P.J. Walters gave up just one run on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts over seven innings but did not factor into the decision. Reliever Matt Scherer pitched 1.2 innings and recorded the last five outs, striking out one to pick up the win Thursday.

The series will shift to Tulsa on Friday and again on Saturday night if necessary. Should game five be necessary, the Cards and Drillers will face off at Hammons Field on Sunday night at 6:10 pm. Swing of Quad Cities (A): LOST TO BELOIT 5-4 in 11

The Swing of Quad Cities season came to an end Thursday at the hands of the Beloit Snappers who beat them 5-4 in 11 innings to take the best-of-three quarterfinals playoff series.

An unbelievable end to very good season, the Swing lost their final nine games of the year, including the two games in the quarterfinal series.

LF Steven Hill hit a solo homer and PH Tyler Henley added a three-run blast in the 8th to keep the Swing in the game, sending it to extra innings.

Kenny Maiques suffered the loss in the final game of the year, giving up a run in his one inning of relief.

Starter Blake King (L, 1-4) only lasted three innings as he gave up four runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Leadoff man and second baseman Mike Foli went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored to lead the Dogs' offense.
